Scope Lubricants began its life as two separate and distinct companies in the year 2002. Fischer, located in Switzerland, had been producing base oils since the year 1869, while Nippon Chohso, located in Japan, had been producing greases since 1926. In the year 2002, the two companies merged to form Engine Oils in Zimbabwe, a company which now produces lubricants under both of its predecessors' names.
