Fuel System 1 Day Workshop: Carburetors

Course Hours: 12pm - 6pm

Dates: To be announced
Cost: Tuition: $85

If your bike is not able to start, idle or not running well at speed there is a high probability that you are having problems with your fuel system. Carbureted bikes are most susceptible to issues if certain precautions are not taken, which you will learn.

This is not just a take it apart and clean it workshop. You will learn what every parts function is and what aspect of power it effects. If you have a clear understanding of the dynamics of the fuel system, then it makes it easier to do diagnostics and focus on the source of the problem.

You will wind through the entire system from the gas cap through the fuel tank, petcock, fuel filter and into the carburetor. You will learn about the web of hoses and valves that comprise the emission system another source of issues.

In short the workshop will demystify all the do-dads (tech term) hovering around your engine. If you are aware of the Achilles heels of the system sometimes you can fix a problem in minutes, instead of renting a U-haul truck and taking the bike to the dealer, where at a minimum it will cost you $100 just to touch the bike.

You will also learn good practices to minimize the problems in the first place. This workshop can save you hundreds if not thousands if you continue to ride like I have from years to come. A carb rebuild for example on some bikes can cost upwards to $600 and you may have to do this every couple of years due to bad habits.

The workshop will provide you with the class materials, tools and knowledge to get your bike running  in great shape. Winter is the best time to catch up on maintenance before it catches up with you.

1. How does the carburetted fuel system work & diagnostics?

2. What degrades the fuel system over time & how can that be minimized?

3. How to remove disassemble and service the carburetors.

4. Emission controls, what they do and how they can impact performance.

5. Adjusting and tuning the carburetors.

6. Performance upgrades to fuel system.

You will be presented with both visual information as well as physical elements that will enable even the most tech averse to quickly understand how the system works and how to get it working again.

This is a one day workshop for those of you that are unable to take the 5 week workshop.

So in one day you will be walking away with a clearer understanding of what do do if certain issues arise with the operation of your bike. The class pays for itself immediately after taking it as you will learn to repair a host of problems and how to minimize them in the first place.

This makes a great Christmas gift and gift certificates are available.

Group discount also available. Bring you buddies:o)

Limit is 10 students.

Registration: There is very limited seating for this class so you must register in advance to reserve a seat.
