Class Description

If you're a creative designer craving the ability to fabricate metal with your own hands, this workshop is for you. You'll learn to manipulate steel using air/acetylene bending, twisting, and curving, as well as the TIG welding process for creating blended joints that appear more like castings than welds. Draw with steel, create textures, and let your imagination be your only limit. Metal is a versatile artistic material that can serve as a canvas for traditional paints or develop colors through patinas. Create complex, intriguing structures with exotic textures, make furniture as art, picture frames that compete with the framed art, and sculptures built strand by strand. In this studio workshop, you'll learn: -Heating steel to a glowing temperature for manipulation by hand or blows -Basic TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding for clean, polished weld joints By the end of the day, you'll have hands-on experience bending and welding steel. Continue building your skills and creating furniture or art as a member of our workshop if you lack a suitable workspace at home or your business.
